DESCRIPTION: A beautiful and rare antique Victorian 9ct gold front and back oval locket, adorned with a ruby tone pastes and seed pearls in an ornate setting. The lock has a 9ct solid gold front and back, this means the front and back of the locket are solid 9ct gold, mounted onto a rolled gold base metal frame, hinge and bail. Most of the 3D decoration on the front is made from solid silver with a gold vermeil, which is a nice touch. To confirm, the solid gold sections are the engine turned panel on the rear and the front domed section underneath the ornate setting. It opens/closes well and has the original glass and metal retaining shims for both sides (the glass edges are chipped in areas, see picture 7). It weighs approx. 14.17g and the size dimensions are in the later photos. As to be expected with the items age and type, it isn't stamped/hallmarked, it tests as explained above. PLEASE NOTE: The are some large dents to the rolled gold frame on the side of the locket, see pictures/video. Part of the floral silver section on the front has movement to one strand and can be moved out of it's seating hole (see pictures 12 and 13), it's still secure but thought it worth mentioning. The price of the item reflects the above.
